What it costs

Rent is $135 a week at every home, about $585 a month. You pay $210 to move in: the $75 move-in fee plus your first week. No insurance is needed, because sober living is housing, not medical treatment.

Among Oklahoma City-area programs with published prices, sober living runs about $325 to $750 a month. Compare OKC sober living costs.

Who we serve

Men 18 and older who are detoxed and free of alcohol and drugs on move-in day, willing to be drug tested, and able to meet the weekly rent.

We accept men on probation, parole or in drug court, and men on prescribed medication for opioid use disorder. Overcomers is a recovery residence, not a treatment center or detox. How admissions works.

How to choose a sober living home in OKC

Ask every home the same questions before you move in:

  • Who runs the house day to day: a house manager, or the residents themselves?
  • How often do you drug test, and what happens after a positive?
  • Can I see the house rules and every fee in writing?
  • Is prescribed MAT allowed?
  • What meetings, church or programs are required each week?
  • How close is it to my work, my court or my probation office?

Oklahoma’s mental health department points families to certified recovery residences through its recovery housing page.

Oklahoma City sober living questions

What is sober living?

A sober living home, also called a recovery residence, is a shared home that is free of alcohol and drugs. Residents pay rent, follow house rules and support each other while they rebuild their lives. It is housing with structure, not a medical program.

How is sober living different from a halfway house?

In Oklahoma, “halfway house” usually means a facility the Department of Corrections contracts with to house people who are close to finishing a prison sentence (ODOC). Sober living is voluntary. You choose to live here, you pay rent, and the goal is a sober, stable life.

How is Overcomers different from an Oxford House?

Oxford Houses are run entirely by their residents, who vote on house decisions and share the bills (ODMHSAS). Overcomers homes are Christ-centered and led by a house manager, with drug testing, required meetings, weekly church and Disciple Me, and a written plan for every man.

How much does it cost?

Rent is $135 a week, due before the Sunday house meeting, plus a one-time $75 move-in fee. To move in, you pay $210: the $75 move-in fee plus your first week’s rent. Payments are non-refundable. See the cost page for late and cleaning fees.

Do you accept men taking medication for opioid use disorder?

Yes. Medication-assisted treatment such as buprenorphine (Suboxone), methadone or naltrexone is allowed when it’s prescribed, monitored by your provider and taken exactly as directed. We go over every medication at your intake interview and verify it with your prescriber. Medications are stored securely, and sharing or selling them ends your stay.

Do you accept men on probation, parole or in drug court?

Yes. With your signed release, we can talk with your probation officer, sponsor or healthcare provider.
